It’s now Randy’s turn to watch for disturbances while Max pulls the microwave emitter.
Randy gets the real-time account of what Max is dragging the machine over.

What GPR does is it shoots microwaves into the ground. The microwaves then bounce off of materials at a certain distance. If there are items that are different than the surrounding area, it will send back an image that shows there is a disturbance underground.
Often times the only thing you can know from the reading is that there is a disturbance, it is rare that the type of disturbance can be definitively understood without ground proofing, or digging the item up. Such items could be anything from water mains to house features, old paths, burials, or maybe just rocks.
What GPR does is it gives the ability to pinpoint what might be an interesting enough feature to warrant excavation.
